Work in Stonegate Park

Please note that paving was delayed a day due to the weather.  Paving in Stonegate park will begin Thursday May 24th.

Please note that the remaining asphalt work will be done next week in Stonegate Park commencing on Wednesday May 23rd.  Portions of the pathways in the park will be resurfaced at this time, which will result in the park being closed from Wednesday May 23rd and reopening Saturday May 26th.  Please try to stay off the pathways while the work is being done, using alternate routes if possible.

These timelines could shift due to inclement weather.

Thank you to the Ottawa Police Service for their quick action in apprehending the individual responsible for the break-ins in Bridlewood last week.  Please remember to lock your vehicles and don’t leave valuables in sight.

Kanata South has one of the largest networks of Neighbourhood Watch groups in the city.   If you would like more information or would like start your own Watch, please visit

Eagleson Watermain Repair

The City of Ottawa is currently repairing the watermain on Eagleson Road between Palomino Drive (North) and Rothesay Drive.

To complete this work, it will be necessary to shift southbound traffic to the northbound lanes, providing one lane in each direction. The posted speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h to ensure that motorists can safely travel through the area. This project is tentatively expected to be completed by May 18th.

Route 256 Update

OC Transpo is considering a route change for morning trips to downtown on Route 256, by having buses turn left onto Holly Acres and then right onto the Transitway into Bayshore Station. From there, the buses would continue on the Transitway to Pinecrest, where they would loop onto the highway. Because the buses would be avoiding the section of highway between Richmond and Pinecrest, they would not be caught up in any traffic congestion in that portion. With the request-off stop at Bayshore Station, customers would be able to make connections to the DND offices at Carling Place and connections to employment locations in Kanata North. This route change would not affect afternoon service at all, as the Route 256 already operates via the Transitway and Bayshore Station in the afternoon.

As part of the April 23 spring service change, the following 9 trips are now scheduled to operate with double decker buses. Some of the trips have been converted to double deckers to provide additional capacity, while some trips are operating with double deckers because those buses also operate trips on other routes with high ridership:
