How to Navigate a Roundabout

I look forward to the new roundabout being constructed in Bridlewood at the intersection of Stonehaven Drive and Bridgestone/Steeple Chase Drive. This is both the safest alternative and the most cost effective solution to the grid lock we have today. To improve awareness, City staff and I have begun an education blitz with local school. As the roundabout is being constructed over the summer, it is important to prepare the students for their first day of school this fall. The crossing guards at this intersection will remain when the school year commences, but we want to ensure that children know how to navigate a roundabout at any time. Over the next month, we will be presenting at various schools in Bridlewood where we have been invited to educate the students. We have also presented at the Bridlewood Community Association monthly meeting and the Stonehaven Manor. It is important for all residents to familiarize themselves with roundabouts. Kanata South Days

Please join me and many of your neighbours this weekend at the Hazeldean Mall parking lot for Kanata South Days presented by the GCCA. There will be midway rides and games for people all ages. Musical entertainment will be presented on the Cavanagh Construction stage both Friday and Saturday night across from the Don Cherry’s patio beginning at 7:30 PM. There will be children’s entertainment presented from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

I had the pleasure of attending a number of events recently, including the community rally in support of the drive to bring “AA” baseball to Ottawa. I would like to thank Mayor Watson and my council colleagues for joining me at this exciting event in Kanata South. I would like to especially thank the Glen Cairn skate club and the organizers for the wonderful tribute to my late son Jamie during their event. It warmed our hearts to know that he touched so many in his all too short life.
