Around the Ward
Monday June 18th is the target date to remove the all-way stop at Abbeyhill Dr. at Carbrooke St. and relocate it to Abbeyhill Dr. at Surrey Lane. We are moving the all-way stop controls on Abbeyhill to improve traffic operations. All-way stop controls are used to control the right of way at an intersection, as well as increase pedestrian safety. The relocation of the all-way stop signs will improve traffic operations in and out of the community and improve access to the Hazeldean Mall.
The Big Bridlewood Garage Sale is taking place this weekend. Also, don’t forget that this Saturday and Sunday is the Spring Give Away weekend. Your trash may be someone else’s treasure. Set out your unwanted items with a “free” sign at the curb, and tour your neighbourhood for great finds.
I had the pleasure of spending last weekend at the Kanata South Days Fair. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the Glen Cairn Community Association and Cavanaugh Construction along with all the volunteers for their hard work in bringing this great family event to the community. I would also like to thank the many residents who came by my booth at the fair to speak to me. I sincerely appreciate when residents share their great ideas on how to build a better community. If you have any ideas, comments, questions or concerns related City services, please do not hesitate to contact my office. I would like to congratulate the participants and volunteers from A.Y. Jackson high school for their Relay for Life all night fundraiser.
