Around the Ward

Thank you to everyone who came out last weekend to the Centrum Summer Fest fundraiser. The proceeds from this year’s event are being donated to the Youth Services Bureau in honour of my son James. I would especially like to thank Sheila Greene for organizing such a great day. Also, I would like to thank Stuntman Stu, Leanne Cater and the many performers who contributed to this event.

I had the pleasure of serving coffee to many residents this week on Tim Hortons Camp Day. This annual event is a fundraiser in support of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of coffee goes towards sending under privileged children to one of six camps across Canada.  I would like to thank management and staff at the Tim Hortons on Eagleson Road and Hazeldean Road for allowing me the opportunity to participate in this great event.

Volunteerism is a crucial part of creating a strong community. I would like to congratulate Rod McLean, President of the Katimavik-Hazeldean Community Association for being honoured as the Volunteer of the Year for the Kanata Food Cupboard. Rod generously gives his time to helping local families in their time of need.

Join me this weekend for the Kanata Sports Club 25th Anniversary Celebrations: June 8- Hot Seat and Roast of Mark Papousek, June 9- Dance with Ambush, at the Jack Charron Arena, 10 McKitrick Drive. For more information visit: www.kanatasportsclub.com
