Projects Underway in the Ward

There are a number of construction projects coming to the community this year.  While construction may cause an inconvenience or frustration, most residents appreciate that these projects are an investment in our community which will provide significant future benefits. There are a number of regrading projects on area roads and pathways to improve overland flow. There are also three berms to be constructed, which will serve as protection for the surrounding houses in the case of extreme water levels. There are various updates to watermains, storm water sewers and sanitary sewers for overall improved water management. There will also be a couple of major investments in roadway modifications to improve traffic flow through the community of Bridlewood. For a full list of upcoming projects, please visit my website at www.councillorallanhubley.com.

Around the Ward

I had the pleasure of attending the Kanata Sports Club 25th Anniversary Celebrations this past weekend along with my Council colleague Mayor Watson, MPP Jack MacLaren and MP Gordon O’Connor. I would like to all the volunteers who contributed to the event and made it a great success.

Join me this Friday at the Walter Baker Park in Kanata for the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. This is an all-night fundraising event to celebrate the lives of those who are living with cancer, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back against the disease.

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation to-date has raised $2.4 million for key Ottawa community organizations. July 1: I hope you can join me as a proud supporter of Canada Day in Kanata. The Annual Canada Day in Kanata Celebration is one of the largest community events in Ottawa with crowds of over 30,000 gathered at the Walter Baker Park off of Terry Fox Drive in Kanata. I will have a booth set up on site and encourage residents to stop by my tent to discuss the issues that are important to them.
