I would like to congratulate Harry Needham on receiving the Diamond Jubilee Medal for his outstanding work in the community.
Harry has accomplished many things – soldier (29 years), criminal justice planner (4 years), auditor 18 years), evaluator (20 years), museum manager (9 years), consultant (11 years), and educator. Simple arithmetic will tell you that some of these were, as they say in the criminal justice biz, “concurrent sentences”!
All through those years Harry has also been a volunteer – in the Canadian Army (where everyone is a volunteer), Thompson (Manitoba) Lions Club; St. John Ambulance (Federal District), The Guards Club of Ottawa, Kanata Minor Hockey Association, Ontario Hockey Trainer Certification Program; three branches of the Royal Canadian Legion; the Canadian Battlefields Foundation; the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation; the Upper Canada Historical Association; and, more recently, the Fort La Presentation Association (Ogdensburg, New York), and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (Eastern Ontario)…and there have been others in fact too many to mention here. Harry is also currently the Poppy Trust Administrator and responsible for Recruitment and retention for the Kanata Legion Branch 638.
Harry says he has had great fun volunteering with all these organizations and has still made my small contributions to the betterment of others.
