Reporting Process

Do not use this system if you are operating a vehicle or wish to report information anonymously. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477

Some incidents require an officer to be dispatched to take a report in person, while other reports can be taken by a Call Centre agent over the phone (613-236-1222 ext 7300) or online using our Online Reporting System*

The Ottawa Police do not accept reports by e-mail or social media.

Reports taken through our Online Reporting System include:

  • Theft
  • Lost Property (With a visible serial number or distinct marking such as a custom engraving)
    Read this if you’ve lost your wallet.
  • Mischief/Damage to Property
  • Theft from Vehicle
  • Traffic Complaints

*Reports filed through our Online Reporting System are reviewed within 24 hours.
