Councillor Hubley Slams MPP McNeely over Reckless Stand on Relocation of DND

Press Release

 Monday April 8, 2013

Kanata – Councillor Allan Hubley of Kanata South is disappointed by the comments from Phil McNeely, the Liberal MPP for Ottawa-Orleans, condemning the relocation of the Department of National Defence to the former Nortel campus in Ottawa’s west end.

McNeely is quoted in today’s Ottawa Citizen complaining that the francophone community is being harmed by the relocation of DND personnel.  Councillor Hubley finds his sudden concern for the shifting of jobs to be a bit rich.

“Under McNeely and his government’s watch, Ontario has lost thousands of jobs and become a have not province,” said Councillor Hubley. “I believe it is time that the provincial government focuses on job creation and not starting language wars within our municipalities to hide their MPP’s poor performance for his residents.”

The francophone and anglophone communities in the City of Ottawa have successfully worked together for years without the interference of MPP McNeely.

Councillor Hubley finds it disgraceful that an Ottawa MPP sat on his hands and watched his own government waste billions of taxpayer’s dollars that could have created new jobs in Orleans and elsewhere in Ontario.  Instead money was wasted on E-Health, the closing of gas plants in Oakville and Mississauga, and the scandal at the Ornge air ambulance service.

Councillor Hubley emphasized that, “The money wasted by this Liberal Government could have provided tens of thousands of jobs for the City of Ottawa.”
