AUTHORIZATION TO CLOSE STREET

                                FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION

In accordance with The Road Activity By-law 2003-445, permission is hereby granted for you to close the following roadway: 

On: Belleview Drive         From: Vanstone Drive            To: Pineview Road

 

 

Under the following conditions:

Duration:

  • Tuesday, 4 September 2012 to Thursday, 27 September 2012.

Public Notification:

  • Contractor shall notify, in writing, all residents/businesses a minimum of 72 hours prior to the closure. The notification must include a description of any temporary changes to local access and/or parking.

Signage/Conditions:

  • Contractor to follow the terms and conditions of the contract ISD11-3026 pertaining to traffic management during construction.
  • Provide “Road Closed – Local Traffic Only – No Exit” (TC-7 urban + TC-7tA + TC-7tB + TC-39) signs on Bellview immediately north of Pineview facing northbound traffic.
  • Provide “Road Closed – Local Traffic Only – No Exit” (TC-7 urban + TC-7tA + TC-7tB + TC-39) signs on Bellview immediately east of Vanstone facing eastbound traffic.
  • Provide “Road Closed – Do Not Enter” (TC-7 urban + TC-7tA + Rb-92) signs on all sides of the work zone when it is impossible to pass. Provide any additional signs, barricades, barrels or other traffic control devices as required to completely close the roadway at these locations. Note: If the closure  point is at any of the intersections, replace the Local Traffic Only – No Exit signs with the Do Not Enter.
  • Provide “Road Closed” signs plus any barricades, barrels or other traffic control devices at the work zone as may be necessary to ensure both public and worker safety.
  • Maintain access to adjacent dwellings at all times.  This includes emergency vehicle access. 
  • Maintain pedestrian access and provide pedestrian detour routes if necessary. 

 

 

Update: August 23, 2012

Please be advised that our Contractor B-Arnone Paving & Concrete Ltd. has requested to work Saturday, 25 August 2012 on Barrow Crescent in front of the Roger St. Denis School. The contractor will be preparing the construction site for the start of school on Monday, 27 August 2012 and full school opening on Tuesday, 28 August 2012.

The contractor will take all safety precaution to allow safe passage to and from school on Barrow Crescent delineating a dedicated pathway for pedestrians.

Please be advised that a contract has been awarded to B-Arnone Paving & Concrete Ltd. to undertake construction of Vanstone/Belleview/Barrow overland flow construction project.  

It is expected that the work will commence on approximately August 7, 2012 and the website will be updated as we receive additional information.

West End Flood Mitigation MeasuresVanstone/Belleview/Barrow overland flowContract No. ISB11-3026Please note that the construction of the Vanstone Drive, Belleview Road and Barrow Crescent overland flow route is identified in the Glen Cairn Flood Investigation (GCFI) Report dated 2 March 2010.  

This work may result in some inconvenience to you such as minor delays in traveling along Kakulu Drive as truck traffic will be accessing and exiting from Barrow Crescent during construction.

In trying to keep the work place as safe as possible, the City of Ottawa respectfully requests that all residents and pedestrian exercise extreme caution when walking or cycling through the construction site until the work is completed.

The Contractor, B-Arnone Paving & Concrete Ltd. (613-822-6602) is expected to start construction the week of 6 August 2012 with substantial completion by 28 September 2012.  The project involves road construction on Belleview Road and Barrow Crescent including driveway reinstatement, new concrete curbs and concrete sidewalk (along south side of Barrow Crescent) and landscaping. For the duration of the contract, B-Arnone Paving & Concrete Ltd. will take every precaution to minimize interruptions to the everyday life of the residents, but as you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the work, such as minor delays in travelling through the construction zone, and noise.

Temporary traffic–related modifications

Truck traffic will be accessing and exiting from Vanstone Drive, Belleview Drive and Barrow Crescent during construction. The contractor will maintain one lane for local traffic at all times including access to driveways.

Traffic slowdowns on Barrow Crescent

 Ottawa– Motorists travelling along Kakulu Drive between Barrow Crescent south and Barrow Crescent north can expect delays due to road construction on Barrow Crescent. Work is scheduled to begin the week of August 6, 2012 and will last until Friday, October 5, 2012. Barrow Crescent will be reduced to one lane in one direction at all times during construction.Slow moving traffic and delays are expected during construction. Drivers are asked to use extra caution and obey signs while travelling through the construction zone or consider using an alternate route.
