KS – July 6th, 2017

Week in Review

I hope all residents had a relaxing and enjoyable Canada Day with friends and family!  Thank you to all the volunteers who donate many hours each year volunteering at this event.  Thank you also to the Canada Day in Kanata Committee who work on making this fantastic community event such a success year round.

I had the great pleasure of attending the A.Y. Jackson and Holy Trinity Grade 12 Graduations last week and I would like to extend my best wishes and congratulations to all graduating students!

Thank you to Beyond Yoga for partnering with me again this year to offer free yoga in the park classes.  This year’s classes were very well attended and I look forward to next year.

2017 Events

There are many great attractions to see around the City all year round to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.  Below are a few upcoming events:

Kontinuum

July 16th – September

10AM – 10PM daily

Circuit takes between 35 – 45 minutes to complete

The LRT infrastructure project is transforming Ottawa’s downtown underground, digging to the very depths of the city’s foundations and exposing sediment dating 150 years back to Confederation. But no one could have imagined what else was concealed underneath these layers…

It all began with a mysterious appearance at the future Lyon station: a glimmering wall of light that can only be described as an electromagnetic anomaly. After researchers concluded that it was safe for humans, city officials made the bold decision to open this incredible discovery to the public.”

La Machine

July 27th – 30th

“Making its debut in North America, La Machine will captivate the public with its travelling urban theatre in the streets of downtown Ottawa.

Wandering around in public spaces, the protagonists will invade the heart of the capital in a show entitled “The Spirit of the Dragon-Horse, With Stolen Wings”. They will live among us for 24 hours a day over the course of four days as they pursue their quest and fulfill their destiny.

YOWTTAWA

August 21st

“Get ready for an exhilarating musical experience! We’re amping-up Canada’s 150th celebrations in the Capital with YOWttawa, a large-scale music event at Lansdowne.

Guns N’ Roses will rock the Capital on August 21 with opening act, Canadian rock royalty, Our Lady Peace!

Plus, join us for an ALL CANADIAN Tail Gate Party before the big show.
