Light Rail Transit Motion for West End
Kanata – Today, Councillor Allan Hubley tabled a motion at FEDCO (Finance and Economic Development Committee) to initiate the process needed in order to bring LRT to Kanata.
With the support of our Mayor Jim Watson and all the Chairs of standing committees, this motion directs staff to determine options available to extend the system we are currently building to serve the Transit needs of our city for decades to come.
“This is an exciting day for Kanata and Stittsville residents, as we take a big step forward towards having a seamless Transit system from Kanata to Orleans.” said Hubley.
Prior to this motion, there was no plan before 2031 to consider extending the vital service to the fastest growing area of our city for the last decade. . I want to thank the Mayor and Transit chair Steve Blais for working on this with me as part of our shared vision of a connected city. I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Councillor Qadri for all his efforts to work together on transportation and transit for our communities.
