Roundabout Commemorated in Bridlewood

Press Release

Monday May 27, 2013

Kanata –  This morning I was joined by Mayor Watson, Gillian Sullivan of the Bridlewood Community Association, and Deborah Mohr-Caldwell from Goldie Mohr Ltd. to unveil a plaque recognizing everyone who helped with the construction of the Stonehaven Drive roundabout.

This traffic solution was implemented to make travel along Stonehaven more efficient and safer.  In 2012, the City of Ottawa entered into a front ending agreement with Urbandale Corporation, to provide the City with $1 million for the design and construction of a roundabout.  By replacing a four-way-stop intersection, the roundabout was a better approach to keeping traffic moving, and to handle the vehicle volume coming from four different directions.

“We have received great feedback from the community on the roundabout,” said Councillor Hubley. “I want to thank Urbandale and the Mayor for making this possible.”

“This is another example of this council getting things done for our community,” said Mayor Watson. “The traffic problems at this intersection had gone unresolved for years, but by combining projects and the help of a front ending agreement, we have implemented a solution that is both safe and efficient.
