It was great to see so many residents out at my International Women’s Day event this week. A big thank you to my colleague Councillor Marianne Wilkinson for being my guest speaker and thank you to all who attended.

I would like to recognize long time Kanata volunteer Don Brown for his contributions to our community. Mr. Brown was nominated through the City’s Commemorative Naming process and was successfully chosen because of his extensive community service and his extraordinary community service record.

In his personal life, Mr. Brown has been an active volunteer for many years. In particular, he has been involved in hockey at the local, provincial, national, and international levels. Since the 1970’s, Mr. Brown has held countless coaching and executive positions with Glen Cairn Minor Hockey Association, Ottawa District Hockey Association,
